Top Five Irish Pub Games Of All Time

Through the ages people have enjoyed the atmosphere of an Irish Pub. It’s not just the delicious food and drinks served but also the games. Below is a list of the Greatest Irish Pub Games of All Time.

5) Darts – Everyone who knows pubs knows darts. The board is hung where the bulls eye is 5’8” (173 cm) off the floor and the player stands behind the line 7’9” (237cm) to throw the darts. Players throw three darts per turn with a goal of reducing their score from 501 to 0.

4) Snooker – Much like many other cue sports Snooker is played on a billiard table using a white cue ball, 15 red balls (worth 1 pt), and 6 different colored balls: yellow (2 pt), green (3 pt), brown (4 pt), blue (5 pt), pink (6 pt), and black (7 pt). The goal is for the player to score more points than their opponent by using the cue ball to sink the red and colored balls.

3) Rings – Rings is a game not too dissimilar to darts. Though instead of throwing a dart at a cork board the player throws a washer at a board covered with hooks. Each hook is assigned a point value.

2) Twenty-five – As one of the most popular card games in Ireland it is virtually a staple in rural pubs. It is a fast paced game where the first player to twenty-five wins. The scoring is five points per trick where it takes three pair to make a trick.

1) Skittles – The Irish have their own special version of Skittles. It is a five pinned game where the pins are set up in a circle in a cross formation. To score points the player must not only knock down the pins but knock them out of the circle by throwing four batons at the pin.
